Young gun takes top gong at Wanderers’ awards night

The youngster looked to be used as a squad player at the start of the season but rose to become a first-team regular after the abrupt departure of his older brother, Kearyn, on the eve of the season.

Keanu made 22 starts in the A-League this season and earned a call-up to the Olyroos for their recent Olympic qualifiers.

Roly Bonevacia was favoured by the fans, journalists and pundits, winning the members player of the year award and the Rod Allen media player of the year. The two awards could be the last accolades for the Dutchman at Western Sydney given he’s heavily linked with a move away from the club when his contract expires next month.

Another departing player, Oriol Riera, won another award after winning his second successive club golden boot for top scorer.

Wanderers’ veteran midfielder Servet Uzunlar was crowned the Wanderers best in the W-League.
