“There are a couple of homes in the area that have been sitting on the market, but generally, if it’s a good house, because the area is in very high demand, inventory sells. This is an exceptional property,” says listing agent Rosanne Agasee.

People were drawn to the area — upper Forest Hill Village — and the great curb appeal, she says. The house was totally renovated about 10 years ago. The project was “flawlessly executed by Harvey Wise,” she says. “The absolutely stunning interior… has a design that is sophisticated and timeless. It looks as if it could have been done last week.”

The kitchen was the major renovation, she says. It was gutted to the studs and was extended and reconfigured.

“A gorgeous Statuario marble island has seating for five,” Agasee says. Other features include “a double pantry in dark wood that anchors the otherwise all-white design. There’s a full-size wine fridge and a sunny breakfast nook with a custom L-shaped bench. It’s an expansive, elegant kitchen.”

The home offers classic, sophisticated details, such as wainscoting, custom marble floors, recessed lighting and beautiful fixtures in the dining room and kitchen.

“Everyone that walked into this house simply fell in love with so many features, from the kitchen to the breathtaking fireplace and the terrace to the mud room with its second front entrance off to the side with direct access to garage,” she says.

Even though it’s large (3,100 sq. ft. plus 1,426 sq. ft. on the lower level) Agasee says the house appealed to couples downsizing from “really large homes and who aren’t ready for condo living. Families were also among the potential buyers.”

The 1960s house rests on a lot that’s 110 feet wide and 52 feet deep with a walled and gated front garden. There is also a terrace with a gazebo and hot tub. All of which means there are plenty of options in terms of entertaining…

“The seller held a sit-down dinner party in the north garden for 20 people,” Agasee says. “She had candles adorning the wall and wrought iron gates/fencing. It was magical.”
