Police hunt duo after brazen theft of elderly woman’s purse in Fremantle

WA Police are hunting two people as they investigate a brazen theft in the middle of the day at a Fremantle supermarket last week.

The incident took place at a supermarket on Cantonment Street about 12.30pm on Thursday, February 21, and saw a 98-year-old woman’s purse stolen from her handbag as she leant away from her trolley to pick up an item from the fridge shelf.

As the elderly woman leant towards the fridge, police claim another woman walked up, reached into the older woman’s handbag – which was sitting on the trolley – and plucked out the purse.

The woman is then alleged to have passed the purse to a man as they walked out of the store.
