The Canadiens are still alive for a Wildcard playoff berth.

But just barely; and close family – and fans – have been summoned to bedside.

Mitch Melnick describes the Canadiens’ remaining opponents as the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Winnipeg, Tampa Bay, Washington and Toronto.

All of them are postseason-bound.

All of them are better teams than the Canadiens … at least on paper.

But NHL games aren’t played on paper.

They’re played on ice – in this case, the reputedly excellent ice of Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg.

The Jets are coming off a 5-4 home-ice loss to the Islanders Thursday night . The visitors outshot Winnipeg 44-37 and secured the W with two late goals in 33 seconds.

In addition to being POed about a home-ice loss, the Jets will be hungry for points Saturday night. Winnipeg and Nashville are tied with 94 points atop the Western Conference’s Central Division.

And the home team will remember the Bell Centre game on Feb. 7, when the Canadiens outshot Winnipeg 53-34 and scored five unanswered goals en route to a 5-2 romp.

There’s unlikely to be any romping Saturday night, unless the home team explodes.

Matthew Peca is in the lineup. Jesperi Kotkaniemi is a healthy scratch.

Puck drops 7:10ish.
