#ICYMI: More flood evacuations, Trudeau sinking and a Grand Prix win

Here are some of the top stories on the Gazette site today.

Flooding

Emergency workers urged another 1,500 residents of flood-ravaged Ste-Marthe-sur-le-Lac to leave their homes Sunday, one day after floodwaters broke through a natural dike northwest of the city and forced some 5,000 others to flee with only the clothes on their backs.

Trudeau

A new poll suggests support for Justin Trudeau, his government and his party sank to a new low this month, just six months before Canadians will decide whether to re-elect the Liberals or give them the boot after just one term. But it also suggests that support for Andrew Scheer and the Conservatives is soft and could dwindle as the Oct. 21 election draws closer.

Diving

Jennifer Abel and François Imbeau-Dulac got Canada back on the podium in the final event of the FINA Diving World Series on Sunday. Montreal’s Abel and Imbeau-Dulac of Terrebonne won bronze in the mixed three-metre synchronized competition to claim Canada’s third medal of the three-day event.

Grand Prix

Valtteri Bottas beat Lewis Hamilton to win the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Sunday. It was the fourth Mercedes one-two in as many races, and the best start to a season by a two-car team in Formula One history.
