A group of former Olympic athletes will be holding an event to “empower and inspire” young female athletes May 11 in Dorval.

The “Fast and Female” event will host a Champ Chat at the District Elite fitness centre, located at 2101 TransCanada.

Girls between the ages of 8 and 13 years old are invited to take part in a three-hour program that includes an inspirational talk with Fast and Female ambassadors, a physical activity circuit, a yoga session, and “most importantly, the opportunity to meet strong female role models and make friends.”

Among the Fast and Female Ambassadors present will be boxer Ariane Fortin (2016 Olympian) swimmer Audrey Lacroix ( 2008-2012-2016 Olympian), snowboarder Caroline Calvé (2010-2014 Olympian), kayaker Émilie Fournel ( 2008-2012-2016 Olympian) and synchronized swimmer Jacqueline Simoneau ( 2016 Olympian).

“By partnering with these athletes, Fast and Female strives to empower, inspire and motivate girls to stay in sport and encourages them to reach their athletic and personal best,” it said in a statement.

The Champ Chat also includes a Q&A with Fast and Female Ambassadors.

The event will be held Saturday, May 11 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Registration is free, but space is limited.
